Three months have passed since my blog about tweaking some habits. How did you do? Any changes take place? Just a reminder, the habits in my last blog (dated 6/1) were about sleeping more, drinking water (not drinks with artificial sweeteners/less alcohol) and adding in an exercise routine.
Well? Any luck? If you even made a tiny bit of impact, perhaps cutting back on the Diet Cokes, then I will call it a win. You didn't create these habits overnight so you shouldn't expect to amend them immediately either. That being said, if you do not take that first step then unhealthy habits will just continue. Once you develop the new habit it gets much easier to keep it. I love this quote from James Clear... "Keeping the habit alive is a powerful act. It's easier to stay in shape than to get in shape. It's easier to keep a house clean than to get it clean. Many days it may feel like you are treading water, but maintaining your progress saves your future self a great deal of work."
I work with clients one-on-one at my natural weight loss center in Boca Raton to figure out how to break those not-so-healthy habits and create new ones. We also work on how to keep those new habits for life.
Perhaps you are not even fully aware of what your habits are. I challenge you to track everything for one week.
What are you drinking? - water, La Croix, coffee (what's in it?), etc.
Are you exercising? - how often, how long, is your heart rate elevated
What are you eating? - write it down! what you had and when and pay attention to if you were even hungry when you ate it
After the week is over, review what you did and see what changes can be made. You will be amazed at how easy the tweaks can be once you start. Just take that first step!
