Oh wow, we are 7 weeks into 2025 already! Remember those New Year’s intentions we made just a few short weeks ago? Are they still going strong, or have they quietly drifted away like holiday leftovers? If your motivation is starting to fizzle, don’t worry—you’re not alone! Staying on track all year long takes more than just good intentions. It takes accountability, community, and a solid plan.
So, let’s talk about how to keep that fire lit 🔥 and stay motivated, not just in January but all year long!
What’s Your Why?
Ask yourself: What is truly motivating me to lose weight and get healthier?
✅ Fit into that amazing outfit (or the entire wardrobe collecting dust). I had a client come in earlier today going to her 40 year high school reunion. That’s a great “why”!
✅ Feel stronger and energized
✅ Sleep better (snoring be gone!)
✅ Get rid of nagging pain (knees, back, joints—oh my!)
✅ Improve your blood pressure, sex life (we just talked about the importance of this), and confidence
✅ Just feel like YOU again!
Your “why” is your fuel! Write it down, put it on sticky notes, plaster it on your fridge if you have to! The more you see it, the more likely you are to stay on track.
🔑 4 Keys to Long-Term Motivation
1.Set Small, Win-Worthy Goals
Instead of saying, “I need to lose 30 pounds,” focus on something attainable right now—like drinking more water, walking daily, or adding one extra serving of veggies. Small wins add up to big results! Be sure to celebrate these wins! I congratulate myself after every workout that I took the time for self-care.
2.Build Your Accountability Crew
Let’s be honest—going at it alone is hard. Find a friend, coach (that’s me!), or group that cheers you on! Surrounding yourself with like-minded, motivated people that will hold you accountable. Community is everything!
3.Ditch the All-or-Nothing Mindset
One “bad” meal or missed workout doesn’t mean you’ve failed. Progress, not perfection! Every healthy choice counts, so focus on consistency over time, not perfection every day.
4.Make It Fun!
If your workouts, meals, or habits feel like a punishment, you won’t stick with them. Find what you enjoy! Dance workouts (I have a client that loves to boogie and she does it all day long), trying new healthy recipes (message me and I can send you some), walking with a podcast—whatever keeps you engaged and excited.
Motivation comes and goes, but accountability and habits will carry you through. If you need support, I’m here for you! Whether it’s one-on-one coaching, group programs, or just someone to help you stay on track, let’s do this together.
