ADVICE FOR YOUR WELLNESS JOURNEY

I just left my weekly zoom with my nutrition group. I love this group! I enjoy hearing what everyone is up to and I learn so much from them that I can then use to help my own community.

 

Today's discussion topic was on advice you would give your clients at the start of their wellness journey. I was very excited to hear what everyone had to say. I was actually the first one to speak (no surprise that I am vocal, eh?). My advice was what I tell my clients the very first time we meet... listen to your body. I believe that learning to listen to your body's cues, whether it's about hunger or about aches and pains and knowing something is amiss, is the key to any wellness journey.

 

My peers had some fantastic advice as well...

  • Eat only REAL foods
  • Be honest with your readiness (don't begin a journey you aren't ready for)
  • Go easy on yourself (don't judge yourself harshly if you slip up)
  • Find joy in your journey (may I add - feel empowered in working to improve your health)
  • Let go of any expectations (you cannot compare yourself to anyone else)
  • Don't look for the quick fix, consistency is key
  • Progress not perfection ( I talk about this all the time. Small steps, you never have to be perfect. What is perfection anyway?)

 

Do what works for you on this wellness journey and congratulate yourself along the way for any and every positive change.
