Do you always wear elastic waistbands? Have you tried on those jeans in your closet lately? Time to break them out and see how they fit. If you can't quite get them closed then the tips below can help!
Let's get real for a second. Belly fat isn't just about getting those jeans to close. Belly fat is linked to an increased risk of developing type 2 diabetes, heart disease, high blood pressure, fatty liver disease, and even breast cancer in women! So let's take some simple and easy steps to shed the belly fat TODAY!
1.Reduce Added Sugars
You have heard me mention them. You have seen it on your food labels (we went over that you should be looking at these previously). Added sugars are everywhere. Even in places you wouldn't expect (check out that granola or protein bar you were about to ingest). Look at the label and think twice. Do you really need to dip your hand into that bowl of Hershey Kisses on the table?
2.Portion Control
Yes, I know we live in America, land of the free, home of the HUMONGOUS portions. It does not mean we need to eat everything on our plate when in a restaurant. It also does not mean we need to have such large portions when cooking at home. Try this... Put your food on a smaller plate when at home. Order just an appetizer when at a restaurant or share an entree with a friend. You will realize you don't need so much food in order to be satisfied. Quick reminder, eat only until satisfied (not full).
3.Walk, Run, Stretch
Move! Be active! No couch potatoes here! The Department of Health and Human Services recommends at least 150 minutes of moderate aerobic exercise or 75 minutes of vigorous aerobic activity per week. Is that happening?
4.Colorful Fruits and Veggies
Filling your plate with fruits and vegetables will give you the fiber that you need to feel satisfied longer. Not that I believe in counting calories (I don't), but they are definitely low in that department so filling up on them will help you perhaps not reach for something that is higher up on the caloric scale.
5.Try Intermittent Fasting
I am a HUGE proponent of IF. If you have never tried it what are you waiting for? It is energizing and will help you get in touch with what your body truly needs to feel satisfied.
