1.Move More
Sounds simple because it is. Park farther from the entrance, boogie while you cook, take the stairs, walk to talk to your child or spouse instead of texting or yelling across the house (I can't be the only one guilty of that). Regular exercise has been shown to reduce the risk of heart disease, diabetes, and cancer, and of course help with weight loss.
2.Switch to Water
Did you know..."Replacing a 20-oz soda with sparkling water every day would save more than 20,000 calories over a few months, which could translate into more than five-pounds of weight loss!” — Brittany Markides, RDN, founder of Choose Food. Plus, water makes you feel fuller, causing you to eat less during a meal, so drink a couple of glasses prior to eating and perhaps you will find you aren't hungry after all.
3.Eat Mindfully
Pay attention to what you are eating. Enjoy each morsel. Chew slowing. A lot of effort went into the preparation of the meal (by you or someone else) so take the time to enjoy it. Listen to your body's cues. Stop eating when your body is satisfied. Do not wait until your body is full or stuffed.
4.Sleep More
Getting enough sleep keeps you sharp. That mental clarity will mean not reaching for an energy boost from a highly caloric snack or caffeine drink. More sleep will give you more energy and make you want to move more!
5.Don't Eat After Dinner
When you eat (or don't eat) is extremely important. Your dinner should be the last food you take in that day. Late night snacks are the down fall for many. Brush and floss right after your last meal. Flossing is so annoying that you won't want to do it again that night. It will be the signal to your brain and stomach that you are done for the evening.
